How did you learn to draw?

Seriously would like to know how and when people learned to draw well.  I've had many art classes in the past where I had to do different styles of art... but for some reason I still feel like I'm not good at it, and I'm wondering if it's because I haven't done enough.  How long does it take become a satisfied artist proud of their own work?

I've been drawing all my life, and still think that I have a very long way to go, aspiring to draw like the artists I admire. Once I feel I reach their skill level, I find new artists to admire and try to reach their level.

I was once told you're not a master of your medium until you have done 300 works in that medium alone. I'm currently focused on digital art, and still not half way to 300 after a couple of years, so I think it takes years to master a medium and skill.

It generally takes me 3 years for the new medium to click and to be proud of what I'm doing, but I'm never at the level I want to be at, which is one of the great things about creating a new piece, knowing it can be so much better than the last : )

This year I took on a personal challenge to draw every day, which is improving my skills greatly - even if it is just cutting down the time it takes me to complete an artwork.

Hope this helps!
